125g (4 oz) butter
Melt the butter, sugar and syrup together and pour into the oats mixed with ginger. Mix it up well.
Put into 2 small flat tins about 18cm (7inches) in diameter or 16cm (6 inches) square and press down very hard.
Bake for about 30 minutes at Gas Mark 2, 150°C (300°F).
Cut up when cool. Leave in the tins until cold.
Tavi used to make these when she was at school and asked me for the recipe as she couldn't find it in any book she had.
Ingredients:
65g (2 oz) sugar
125g (4 oz) golden syrup (part can be replaced with honey)
250g (8 oz) rolled oats (and/or mixed cereals)
7ml ( rounded teaspoon) ground ginger
