Apple mincemeat crumble

Apple mincemeat crumble
There are many variations on the fruit crumble theme. This one is particularly good and usefully finishes up the remains of that jar of mincemeat which has been lurking in the cupboard since Christmas!

You can use a handful of dried fruit instead of the mincemeat, or just apples, or any other stewed fruit.

  Ingredients for 4 servings:

    700 g (1½ lb) cooking apples
    25 g (1 oz) sugar
    1- 3 tablespoons mincemeat
250 g (10 oz) nutty crumble mixture (see recipe)

Peel and slice the apples. Put them in a baking dish mixing in the sugar as you go.

Spread the mincemeat over the apples. Spoon the crumble mixture onto top spreading it out evenly.

Put the dish into the oven at 180°C (Gas 4) for 45 minutes.

Serve with custard, cream or ice-cream.
