Counting Steps

A simple investigation looking at triangle numbers.


You will need some cubes.

One step is a single cube. Two steps - how many cubes?

1 step           1 = 1

2 steps         1 + 2 = 3

3 steps         1 + 2 + 3 = ?

4 steps?

Can you go on with the pattern?


The investigation can be continued by looking at "double steps" - steps that go up and down again.
