Cutting up Number Tracks
Make some number tracks.
Cut them up into twos. If you start with zero you get:
If you start with one you get:
Add up the numbers on each piece.
0 + 1 = 1, 2 + 3 = 5, 4 + 5 = ...........
1 + 2 = 3, 3 + 4 = 7, 5 + 6 = .........

Can you see a pattern?
Try cutting the number track into 3s and adding up the numbers on each piece.
Try making a longer number track and cutting it into 5s and adding up the numbers on each piece.
