This is a game which is designed to help children to learn to read and say the number "6" and to relate it to counting to 6 in an active way.
You will need a sheet like this for each player.
and a blank die (dice) with "6" on 4 of its faces and with 2 faces left blank.
Players take turns in throwing the die.
If they get a "6" they say "Six!"
They then draw 6 legs on their first beetle. (Encourage counting out loud while they do this.)
If they get a blank face of the die when they throw they must wait for their next turn.
The winner is the first to complete all 4 beetles on their sheet.
Click to download an A4 sheet with the rules and 3 rows of the 4 beetles.
There are other similar games in the Games pages such as The Birthday Cake Game and The Ladybird Game which can both be used for learning different numbers in the same way.
